Sione is a very proud Island
man, being of Torres Strait, Saibai Islander and Tongan heritage.
Sione was raised in Seisia, a small community in the NPA (Northern
Peninsula Area), which is located near the tip of Australia.
Growing up in Seisia but completing both his Primary & Secondary Education in Cairns, Sione was a high achiever in both academic and sporting honors and received recognition at regional, state and national level. He excelled in Rugby League, Rugby Union, Athletics, Touch Football and Australian Football. Having had many offers from National Rugby League clubs and university scholarships he turned all offers away to move back up to Seisia where he found his passion to help the greater community and young people through intervention and prevention programs.
Sione believes that all people were born to shine as bright as the stars in the sky. He understands that all children go through many obstacles in life and coming from a non-English family background he empathizes with the struggles that many Indigenous youths may encounter in their life’s journey.
Sione at the age of 25 is proud to say that his highest achievement, whether academic or sporting is his personal goal to never to consume alcohol, smoke or take drugs - “DON’T NEED IT - DON’T WANT IT”
He is a strong beliver in living life to the fullest and has a life motto - “Yesterday is the Past, Tomorrow is a Mystery and Today is a Gift from God, that’s why it is called the Present.”
